Mark Noble lifts lid on what it's like to play for West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini

Mark Noble has finished his 15th season as a West Ham first team player and has opened up on what it has been like working alongside manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The Hammers captain has gone through three different managers over the last couple of years - Slaven Bilic, David Moyes and then Pellegrini - in what had been a turbulent time for the club before the Chilean's arrival.

Pellegrini has steadied the ship in east London as the Hammers rallied late in the season to finish in tenth place, a three spot improvement from 2017/18 and also, helped the team collect 31 points at London Stadium this season which is a new record since moving to the arena.

The Hammers manager went big last summer and splashed the cash to get that top ten finish and is expected to invest again this summer - though not the same extent as last time - to push on for a European place in 2019/20.

Noble has seen his fair share of managers recently and has lifted the lid on what it is like at the training ground with the calm demeanour of Pellegrini and his coaching staff around.

"As a player, it's been so enjoyable to be part of it all," he wrote in an end-of-season message to West Ham fans.

"While professional football is about winning and losing, at the end of the day it is still a sport and meant to be fun, and I have definitely had a lot of fun being part of Manuel’s team this season.

"It would always take time for Manuel Pellegrini's methods to take effect and, since that happened, we have produced some superb performances and some outstanding results."

The skipper highlighted beating Spurs at their new home last month as a personal highlight when West Ham became the first visiting team to score a goal at the £1bn arena, let along pick up a victory.

He also pointed to victories away at Everton, where the team stopped the rot of four straight defeats to start the campaign, plus the victories over Arsenal and Manchester United at London Stadium as highlights of the season.
