Mark Murphy says Packers ‘exploring’ a 2019 exhibition game in Canada

According to the Packers’ team website, president Mark Murphy said the team is in talks to play the Oakland Raiders in Canada during this upcoming preseason schedule.

“We’re in discussions,” Murphy said, according to Wes Hodkiewicz and Duke Bobber of Packers.com. “This (game) would be the Raiders’ home game. Still kind of up in the air. But it’s a possibility that (the Packers) would either play most likely in Saskatchewan or Winnipeg.”

While dates and locations have yet to be decided, the game wouldn’t affect the Packers’ slate of preseason home games at Lambeau Field if the current reports hold.

The Packers have done something like this twice in the past, per the team website. They played and defeated the Buffalo Bills in Toronto in 1997 and beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Japan the following year.
