Mark Medina: Warriors dealing with ‘post NBA All-Star break hangover’

Mark Medina of The Mercury News came with a choice zinger about the Golden State Warriors’ listless play in recent games:

The Warriors simply have nursed a post NBA All-Star break hangover.

In last night’s loss to the Heat in Miami, the Warriors were down by 10 points after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Warriors fell behind by as many as 24 points before pulling to within 15 by halftime. And, so it has gone for the Warriors lately — “sluggish, inattentive and irritable,” according to Medina, who attributes these qualities to Golden State’s recent losses.

Los Angeles Sparks star Candace Parker once said the All-Star break can make or break teams for the rest of the season. If playing poorly, the break can give the struggling team new energy, while teams who are playing well can find themselves on the decline after the break.

Unfortunately, it seems the Warriors find themselves on the decline.

After last night’s one-point loss due to their most recent wet-noodle start, it is hard to imagine the Warriors coming out full of energy tonight against the Orlando Magic, especially with Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala both out due to rest and illness, respectively.
