Mark McKenzie transfer latest as Celtic target admits laser focus amid deal waiting game

Mark McKenzie admits he's in playing a waiting game on his transfer future as the Celtic linked star focuses on international challenges.

The Philadelphia Union star has enjoyed an excellent season for his club in MLS and has been heavily linked with a winter move to Celtic Park.

He's now earned an call-up for the USA and is at their camp in Fort Lauderdale before their midweek game against El Salvador.

Philadelphia Union chief Ernst Tanner admitted this week it was just a matter of time before big European clubs made their move for the highly-rated stopper.

And McKenzie admits he may have played his last game for his club.

He said: "I can’t really focus on too much else. We’ll see in the coming weeks what is lined up for me. But right now it’s just about coming into camp and firing.

"You can see how talented this pool of players is, how many guys we have competing in Champions League football. This is a healthy competition between us all. We all recognise that.

"We have a group of players coming up who are young and hungry and ready for an opportunity. I think that’s a really strong and lethal combination, and it’s only going to help us, especially young guys, going forward"
