Mark McGhee in angry Charlie Adam ding dong with reporter as Dundee boss snaps 'it's nobody's business why I took him off'

Mark McGhee refused to explain why he subbed Charlie Adam after the Dundee skipper's furious reaction to being hauled off in defeat to Aberdeen.

A visibly angry Adam was hooked for Josh Mulligan as the Premiership 's bottom side desperately sought victory at Pittodrie.

The Dens Park side side five points adrift of St Johnstone with three games to play after Lewis Ferguson 's second-half penalty earned the Dons a much-needed victory.

McGhee was pleased with his team's performance post-match but became involved in a frosty exchange with BBC Sportsound reporter Kenny McIntyre as he repeatedly asked about Adam's withdrawal.

Here's how the interview unfolded.

McIntyre: "Why did you take Charlie Adam off? It was certainly a decision that didn't go down well with-"

McGhee (interrupting): "It's not anybody's business why I took him off. I took other players off, ask me about them."

McIntyre: "I think, the reaction, given the influence, you've spoken a lot about Charlie Adam the past few weeks-"

McGhee: "You'll need to ask Charlie Adam. I took him off, as I did other players, to try and win the football match."

McIntyre: "So it was a tactical thing?"

McGhee: "Absolutely."

McIntyre: "What was his reaction to that? Because the fans weren't happy."

McGhee: "I don't want to talk about that. I don't want to talk about Charlie Adam."

McGhee then admitted his side most likely need to win their remaining three fixtures to claim a play-off lifeline before McIntyre returned to his previous line of questioning.

McIntyre: "Will Charlie Adam play in those games?"

McGhee: "I don't want to talk about Charlie Adam, I've told you that already."
