Mark Lawrenson and Jeff Stelling disagree on Arsenal prediction for West Ham clash

Legendary Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling has backed Arsenal to defeat West Ham United in Sunday afternoon's Premier League clash at the London Stadium.

The Gunners, who currently sit three points clear of second-placed Manchester City at the top of the table, had won seven league matches on the bounce before last weekend's 2-2 draw against Liverpool. Despite taking a two-goal lead in the opening half an hour, they were unable to secure all three points at Anfield thanks to an inspired second-half performance from the home side.

Now, Stelling has predicted Mikel Arteta's men to defeat the Hammers in relatively comfortable fashion. Writing for Sky Sports Super 6, he said: "The title race continues with only six points in it, but I think it will stay that way with comfortable wins for Man City and Arsenal over strugglers Leicester and West Ham respectively."

However, Liverpool hero Mark Lawrenson isn't convinced that Arteta's men will clinch all three points this afternoon, backing the Hammers to cause an upset at the London Stadium. "West Ham had a good win at Fulham and with City hitting their stride Arsenal can’t afford to slip up but I think they might", he told Paddy Power.

"I think this might be a draw. Arsenal were fab in the first 15 minutes against Liverpool but collapsed a little bit. There were a lot of things going on off the ball which was good, it reminded me of the old days!"

Lawrenson's prediction: West Ham 1-1 Arsenal.
