Mark Herbison described as a "true gent" after sudden death

Tributes have been paid after a young man died suddenly aged only 33.

Locals in the Ballymena area have been expressing their shock after Mark Herbison passed away at hospital on Monday.

Mr Herbison, known to friends as Herbie, was well known for keeping fit and was a regular in the gym.

A message posted on the James Henry Funeral Services Facebook page said: “Herbison Colin Mark 17th October 2022, suddenly at hospital, aged 33 years, late of 2 Clarehill, Ballymena. Much loved son of Colin and Vinny and loving brother of Paul and Ryan. Funeral arrangements later.

“House private, family flowers only please, donations in lieu if desired may be sent to James Henry Funeral Services, 100 Broughshane Street, Ballymena BT43 6EE for N.I. Chest Heart and Stroke.

“Lovingly remembered by his Mum, Dad brother Paul, partner Lauren and nephews Jayden and Harry, brother Ryan and partner Anna, Nana Helen and family circle. Precious memories.”

The message prompted a string of tributes from friends and family expressing their shock and sadness at the unexpected loss.

Mr Herbison’s death prompted an outpouring of grief with friends describing him as “a true gent" who "always made you smile”, “a lovely young fella with the biggest smile & kindest heart” and “an absolute gem gone to soon”.
