Mark Hamill pays tribute to Carrie Fisher on 1-year anniversary of her death

Leia lives on for Luke.

"Star Wars" icon Mark Hamill sent out an early morning tweet honoring his close friend, Carrie Fisher, on the one-year anniversary of her death.

"No one's ever really gone ... " Hamill said.

The photo collage that accompanied the message also included hashtags #AlwaysWithUs and #CarrieOnForever.

Fisher died at age 60 on Dec. 27, 2016, from sleep apnea and a combination of other factors, including drug use.

Despite the actress's tragic passing, the latest installment of the Star Wars franchise, "The Last Jedi," features Fisher as Princess Leia who stars alongside Hamill _ her on-screen brother Luke Skywalker.
