Mark Hall named as West Belfast murder victim

A man who was shot dead in West Belfast on Saturday has been named locally as Mark Hall.

The shooting happened in Rodney Drive, in the St James area of the city.

Mr Hall, who is aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital with gunshot injuries but was later pronounced dead.

Detectives have launched a murder investigation.

A PSNI appeal said: "The Police Service of Northern Ireland would ask anyone with any information about this incident, to call on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference number 1466 18/12/21. You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at http://crimestoppers-uk.org/.

"There are no further details to share at this time."

A tweet from the Police Service's official account last night read: "Tragically, today we are investigating two murders in the Belfast area. At this time there is no reason to suspect any link between the two and speculation is unhelpful to police investigations."

In a separate incident, detectives investigating the 'murder' of a woman in North Belfast have confirmed that the body discovered in the Harcourt Drive property yesterday morning is that of 30-year-old Caoimhe Morgan.

The 30-year-old male arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday, remains in custody.
