Mark Gatiss announces 'that's a wrap' on Netflix and BBC co-production Dracula after seven months

Mark Gatiss has announced that the long-awaited Netflix and BBC co-production of Dracula has wrapped filming after seven months.

The new drama, from Sherlock creators Gatiss and Steven Moffat, stars Danish actor Claes Bang as the vampiric Count.

Gatiss revealed that production on the series had finished in a Twitter post on Thursday, adding: “You won’t believe it – but when we were lining up the very last shot, a bat flew into the studio. Like a convention anecdote!”

Alongside Bang, Dracula will also star John Heffernan (The Crown), Joanna Scanlan (No Offence), Dolly Wells (Can You Ever Forgive Me), Sacha Dhawan (Line of Duty), Jonathan Aris (Sherlock), Morfydd Clark (Patrick Melrose) and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Misfits), among others.

The drama starts off in Transylvania in 1897, where the Count is plotting to travel to Victorian London to hunt down new blood.

Dracula will air on BBC1 and Netflix in Winter 2019
