Mark Frith, the man responsible for turning Heat into one of the most successful UK consumer magazines of the noughties, has been named editor-in-chief of celebrity and fashion weekly Now.

Frith, who has a string of editorships under his belt including Time Out London and Smash Hits, takes over from Sally Eyden.

“Mark has racked up a number of industry accolades and has proven his talent for launching new products and growing market share,” said Paul Cheal, director of innovation at Now’s parent company Time Inc UK. “Mark will play a pivotal role in our print and digital evolution.”

Eyden, who edited Now magazine for the last five years, announced in June that she was moving to become editor of ITV’s long-running daytime panel show Loose Women.

“I’m so excited to be joining the original – and best – celebrity magazine at such an exciting time,” said Frith. “Now has a brilliant team in place and I can’t wait to start working with them.”
