Mark Drakeford announcement: When is the next lockdown review briefing in Wales?

The outcome of the latest three-weekly review of the lockdown rules in Wales is set to be announced later this week.

A review of the current lockdown measures takes place every 21 days and the results are announced during a press briefing often led by First Minister, Mark Drakeford.

The last three-week review took place on Friday, March 12 and outlined key dates for the easing of lockdown restrictions

This included the reopening of hairdressers and barbers, followed by the phased reopening of non-essential retail, which started with removing the ban on what supermarkets and shops already open could sell, and the reopening of garden centres for the first time this year. You can read everything Mark Drakeford said in his last review here.

Then on Saturday, March 27 the stay local rule was lifted and it was announced that six people from two households could meet outdoors. Read more on the new rules here.

But when is the new lockdown review in Wales and what will be announced?

The next big date for the diary is Thursday, April 1 .

Usually the Welsh Government announcements following a review of the restrictions takes place at the end of the week, but the press breifing will go ahead a day early due to Good Friday this time. It will be held at 12.15pm .

It's the first in a while after the regular weekly coronavirus press briefings also stopped. You can read why the Welsh Government is no longer holding these here.

In this week's review, the following restrictions will be considered for April 12, 2021:

Full return of schools and colleges

All shops can reopen

Close contact services resume

Travel in and out of Wales permitted

However, all of the above is subject to the public health situation remaining positive. You can read more on what is expected here.
