Mark Davis says he’d like Raiders training camp to remain in Napa past 2020

The Raiders are reportedly likely to stay in Napa for training camp next season, and according to team owner Mark Davis, that’s true.

But that’s not all.

Davis says he loves the Napa facility and would like to stay there beyond 2020, according to the San Francisco Chronicle’s Matt Kawahara.

The Napa facility is highly regarded in NFL circles because of the proximity of the Napa Marriott, which is where the players stay. The practice field isn’t much further from the rooms than a typical hotel pool would be.

“Being able to walk from your hotel room to the practice field,” said former Raiders linebacker Kirk Morrison on Saturday, “it’s almost where when you came to Napa, you parked your car and you literally watch it accumulate dirt for two weeks and you wouldn’t leave. Because there was no reason to leave. Everything was right here.

Other NFL teams are rumored to have interest in the location, assuming the Raiders would leave. But Davis’ love for the facility may force them to abandon those plans.

It would seem more convenient to move training camp to Nevada since the Raiders are moving to Las Vegas in 2020. But apparently, the convenience and great weather in Napa may override that notion for Davis.
