In another bit of news that indicates that the NBA season’s hopes to return are in serious jeopardy or at the very least several months away, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban walked back previous remarks from a few weeks ago that he hoped the NBA could return by mid-May.
Cuban made an appearance on the ESPN morning show Get Up, where he admitted that he, nor Adam Silver, nor any of the other owners have any idea when they are going to get back to playing games, even at a neutral site.
“All the experts have got to say it’ll be absolutely safe,” Cuban said on Get Up. “We cannot put anything ahead of the health and safety of our players and staff; that’s it. It’s such a moving target, and nobody really has specifics. I mean, I haven’t had any conversations where anybody’s even discussed an actual date at this point.”
Although the league and their owners have been suggesting through the media that they intend to resume the season no matter what, the reality of the coronavirus is increasingly changing the possibilities.
