Mark Davis is a radio talk show host in the greater Dallas area, and on Sunday night he decided to do some pontificating about this year’s Dallas Mavericks team.
On Twitter, Davis said that he was “so ready to be in on this year’s #Mavericks home stretch,” citing the team’s fun personality and promise on the court.
But, Davis wrote, “the minute one player kneels during the anthem, I am OUT.”
He then tagged Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, saying he can lead the way “to do whatever gesture they wish without insulting the nation.”
To think that these protests aren’t about systemic violence against Black people, and are about “insulting the nation,” is so willingly obtuse that Cuban wasn’t willing to waste time with it, instead just quote tweeting: “Bye.”
Cuban could have left it there, but then kept going, asking Davis to complain to his boss about why they don’t play the national anthem every day before Davis works.
Davis has responded now, saying that he doesn’t like being met with “hostility,” which, buddy, you were the one who said you were out on the team and tagged Cuban, so I’m not sure what you expected to happen here.
It will give him something to blather on about during rush hour today though, so good for Davis.
