Mark Clattenburg labels Sunderland 's***' as he slams Premier League referee

Mark Clattenburg has labelled Sunderland 's***' in a dig at his former colleague Jon Moss.

The former Premier League official is a known Newcastle United fan and since quiting his position as a Premier League referee in 2017 has been regularly scathing of the standard of officiating in the English top flight.

Moss, meanwhile, is a known Sunderland supporter and was even on the club's books as a youth player.

Ahead of the new Premier League campaign, Clattenburg has assessed the top flight's officials for Paddy Power’s Pitch Invader magazine, and was less than complimentary about the Black Cats or Moss.

He said: "(Jon Moss is) Big mates with Martin Atkinson so that sums him up.

“A good player, a good footballer, but he supported a s*** team like Sunderland.

“I didn’t really take to him and he liked a lot of the politics - I was more worried about doing my job.

“I don’t really rate him as a referee, either.

“When I trained with him he looked like a fit guy but now he looks like he’s about eight months pregnant.”

He was far more complimentary about fellow Toon fan Michael Oliver, calling him "by far one of the best" and named him England's No 1.
