Mark Barron says Steelers don’t like pass interference replay review

On Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers ended up on the wrong end of the new rule regarding reviewing pass interference calls and linebacker Mark Barron isn’t happy about it.

Against the Seattle Seahawks, Pittsburgh saw just how much of an impact the new rule can have on a drive. The Seahawks were sitting on seond-and-20 when Russell Wilson chucked one deep to Tyler Lockett. Steelers’ safety Terrell Edmunds broke up the pass but Seattle head coach Pete Carroll threw the challenge flag.

Upon review the officials determined the play was defensive pass interference, it kept the drive moving for Seattle and it eventually turned into a touchdown for Seattle.

Barron made it clear how much the Steelers hate the rule and the potential problems it could create. The reality is while the rule is problematic everyone will operate under it the same. Yes, teams could take advantage of it and try to create pass interference opportunities but the Steelers can do this as well. There’s no doubt it hamstrings defenses and because of this there will be some adjustments made to the rule as more situations like this but for now, the Steelers and the rest of the NFL will continue to operate within a system very much broken.
