Mark Allen withdraws from Champion of Champions event

Mark Allen has withdrawn from the upcoming Champion of Champions tournament due to "personal reasons".

Defending champion Allen was due to compete at the tournament from November 15-21 at the Bolton Whites Hotel.

But the Antrim cue star has confirmed he will miss the event.

Allen tweeted: "Sorry to Matchroom and anyone who was for coming to watch me.

"Hopefully be back next year. One of my favourite events of the year. Hope the event is a massive success.

"Good luck to all involved."

Allen - who has struggled over the past couple of years with depression, divorce and financial difficulty - won last month's Northern Ireland Open in Belfast after beating John Higgins 9-8 in the final

The Antrim cue star, 35, later admitted he was "unsure if he would get any" of his £70,000 prize money for winning the event.
