Marjorie Taylor Greene Slams Trump Over Post About Rob Reiner's Death: 'Not About Politics Or Political Enemies'

Marjorie Taylor Greene

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene slammed President Donald Trump over his reaction to the death of prolific director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer.

Trump caused shockwaves on Monday after saying that Reiner and Singer died "reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME."

He also called Reiner a "tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star," and said he was "known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump." And claimed that his "obvious paranoia" reached "new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before." "May Rob and Michele rest in peace!" he concluded.

In a social media publication of her own, Greene noted that Reiner and Singer were "tragically killed at the hands of their own son, who reportedly had drug addiction and other issues, and their remaining children are left in serious mourning and heartbreak."

"This is a family tragedy, not about politics or political enemies. Many families deal with a family member with drug addiction and mental health issues. It's incredibly difficult and should be met with empathy especially when it ends in murder," she added.

The Associated Press reported that Reiner's younger son, Nick, is in police custody for what investigators believe was the fatal stabbing of the two. He has been "booked for murder" and is being held on $4 million bail.

The outlet noted that Nick has spoken publicly about struggles with addiction and homelessness, and he and his father had collaborated on a semi-autobiographical movie called "Being Charlie," which included elements of their relationship.

Greene has repeatedly slammed Trump since their fallout, which began as a result of Greene's insistence on releasing the Epstein files in contrast with the reluctance of the Trump administration. Greene announced she will resign from her post in early January and has been taking aim at Trump since.
