Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene is one of just four Republicans who are pushing to release all the Jeffrey Epstein investigation files. The Georgia congresswoman joined Representatives Thomas Massie, Lauren Boebert, and Nancy Mace in signing a special petition that will force the House to vote on making the Department of Justice release everything they have on the convicted sex offender. All 214 House Democrats also signed it.
Greene posted on X on November 13 saying “Next week we will be voting to release the Epstein files.” She pointed out that Democrats never tried to release these files during Biden’s four years as president, and now that Republicans control everything, only four of them signed the petition. She thinks more Republicans will vote to release the files when they have to do it publicly, and she wants people to remember the original four who stood up first, as per Newsweek.
The vote is happening right after House Democrats released some alleged emails from Epstein’s personal files on November 12. These emails showed Epstein talking about Trump and saying he knew what was going on with young girls. In one email from 2019 to author Michael Wolff, Epstein said Trump knew about the girls because he asked Ghislaine Maxwell to stop. The White House and Republicans said this victim was Virginia Giuffre, who never said Trump did anything wrong and sadly died by suicide earlier this year.
Greene is going against what Trump wants
The White House has been trying hard to stop Republicans from supporting this petition. President Trump wrote on Truth Social that this is all a Democrat Epstein Hoax and said only a very bad or stupid Republican would support it.
The administration even brought Representative Lauren Boebert to a meeting in the Situation Room to talk about her support for releasing the files, which shows how seriously Trump is taking this. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that these emails do not prove anything except that Trump did nothing wrong.
So, despite the onhoing barrage of alleged evidence against Trump and the possibility of the redacted portions of the files tarnishing what is left of the president’s reputation, Greene is dead set on getting them released.
Next week we will be voting to release the Epstein files. I honestly believe it’s not only the right thing to do for the victims but it’s also the right thing to do for the country. Americans deserve transparency.
— Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene
Remember Democrats had 4 years under Biden to release it all, but…(@RepMTG) November 13, 2025
Speaker Mike Johnson says the petition is reckless and not needed because the House Oversight Committee is already looking into everything and putting out documents. But he still said on November 12 that he will let the House vote on it next week. The House Oversight Committee put out more than 20,000 pages of documents from Epstein’s files on Wednesday, though a lot of them were already public before.
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene told The Washington Times on Thursday that voting for transparency on Epstein is a test for all members of Congress. She said if someone in Congress does not support transparency on this, then you cannot trust them at all.
Greene has been saying over and over that all the Epstein files need to come out, that nobody should be protected, and that it is completely unfair that several administrations have failed to release this information. Greene’s decision to disobey Trump on the Epstein files is unusual for someone who usually backs the president on everything.
Even if this bill gets through the House, it still has to pass in the Republican controlled Senate and then Trump would have to sign it into law. Trump has always said he was never really close with Epstein and told reporters in July that he kicked Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago for being inappropriate with his female workers.
Only four Republicans out of 219 signed this petition, which shows how risky it is for these lawmakers to go against the president on something this controversial. Greene’s stance on the Epstein files has gotten her praise from people who want transparency but also criticism from Trump’s most loyal supporters.
