Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has again broken with the Republican party, now claiming that it has "turned its back on America first and the workers."
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Greene said she doesn't know whether "the Republican Party is leaving me, or if I'm kind of not relating to the Republican Party as much anymore" after blasting the Trump administration and the bulk of the GOP over its stances on topics such as its backing of Israel and Ukraine in the wars against Hamas and Russia, and the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case.
She also reposted a social media publication highlighting some of her statements and description of her mindset, which also included a claim that she is still loyal to President Donald Trump, but she sees "flashing red lights warning that the GOP is out of step with the MAGA base."
"I think the Republican Party has turned its back on America First and the workers and just regular Americans," she said in a passage of the interview, adding that the party is "reverting to its 'neocon' past."
It is the latest criticism of the party, a recent one being about the decision to send more military aid to Ukraine. "It's not just Ukraine; it's all foreign wars in general and a lot of foreign aid," Greene said in an interview with The New York Times.
Greene has repeatedly stated that continuing to invest taxpayer dollars into foreign wars that do not help the American people is against what she stands for, and does not benefit her constituents. She believes that actions like this one indicate a diversion from the America First approach President Donald Trump promised to adopt when he was campaigning.
"This is what we campaigned on. This is what I promised also to my district. This is what everybody voted for. And I believe we have to maintain the course."
Greene is also the only Republican who has called Israel's actions in Gaza a genocide. She did so while slamming colleague Randy Fine over his statements about the humanitarian situation unfolding in the enclave, saying they will "actually cause more antisemitism."
Greene was making reference to a recent social media publication by Fine, who said earlier this month that Gazans should "starve away" until all hostages are returned.
