Nintendo has announced Mario Tennis Fever is set to launch on February 12, 2026, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2, alongside a new trailer filled with gameplay, features and details.
The game brings Mario and friends back to the court with a blend of classic tennis moves and new mechanics that add extra layers of strategy. Players can hit topspins, slices and lobs while working the Fever Gauge to unleash powerful Fever Shots. These can be enhanced with Fever Rackets that come with unique effects, like freezing the court, shrinking opponents with mushrooms or creating a shadow double. With 30 Fever Rackets and 38 playable characters—the biggest lineup in the series—there’s plenty of room to find a playstyle that fits.
Modes are designed to cater to different styles of play. Tournament mode features commentary from a Talking Flower, I mean of course it does. Trial Towers challenges players with a variety of objectives and Mix it Up mode introduces quirky rules and Wonder Effects. Online options include customizable matches through Online Rooms or more competitive Ranked play. For a different feel, Swing Mode lets players use the Joy-Con 2 controller like a real racket.
The game also includes a story-driven Adventure mode. After an encounter with monsters on a remote island, Mario and his friends are turned into babies. Players will guide them as they relearn their tennis skills and take down the island’s creatures to return to normal.
