Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope New game accidentally leaked by Nintendo ahead of E3 announcement

The original Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was a turn-based tactical role-playing game released in 2017 for the Nintendo Switch and was a very popular collaboration between Nintendo's iconic characters and Ubisoft's whacky Rabbids.

The game was a hit in the early days of the Nintendo Switch and was a big surprise to fans due to Nintendo being known for being fiercely protective of their characters and Intellectual property.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was also leaked ahead of its E3 announcement back in 2017, and history may have repeated itself.

Nintendo accidentally published the secret sequel to this game ahead of the UbisoftForward E3 presentation later today at 8pm GMT. The details were published on a product listing for the new game on the Nintendo website.

The original game was a smash hit (Nintendo / Ubisoft)

The new game is called Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and the new strategy game is set to release in 2022.

The listing included details as well as screenshots and was described on the official Nintendo website as:

"Team up with Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Rabbid Peach, Rabbid Luigi, and their friends on a galactic journey to defeat a malevolent entity and save your Spark companions. Explore planets throughout the galaxy as you uncover mysterious secrets and compelling quests!

Build your dream team with three heroes from an eclectic roster of nine.

The game appears to stick with the comical, colourful look of the original (Ubisoft / Nintendo)

Take down all new bosses, along with some familiar enemies throughout the galaxy.

Rescue the adorable Sparks throughout the galaxy, who provide distinct powers that will help you in battle.

Unleash your heroes' skills but be strategic as you dash your enemies, team jump on your allies, and hide behind covers."

Many of the details have since been removed from the listing.

Unfortunately, no trailer was posted with the screenshot but it's already got fans hyped and talking about the much-loved series.

Fans are delighted to see a sequel to the classic Switch game with some fan even speculating that screenshots are from the rumoured "Nintendo Switch Pro" console due to their high resolution.

As of yet Ubisoft or Nintendo have acknowledged the game on their social media. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope isn't going to be the last surprise of E3 but it's defiantly a great game to kick things off.
