Mario Lemina hands Man Utd and Arsenal boost with fresh transfer admission

Southampton's Mario Lemina insists he wants to stay in England amid interest from Manchester United .

United have reportedly made an enquiry for Lemina, with Arsenal also interested in the former Juventus midfielder.

Lemina, 25, has told Southampton he wants to move on after just two years with the club.

There are likely to be offers from England and across Europe but Lemina wants to join another Premier League club in a real boost to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

"The best thing for me would be to stay here, but I don’t close the door on any club, or any country. I aspire to play in the very biggest clubs, now we will see what is offered to me," Lemina told France Football.

"I made a good impression in England, I received good feedback at a certain point, so I hope that clubs won’t have a short memory.

"I am not scared, I made a decision and I take full responsibility for it. I decided to tell the club representatives that I wanted to leave, there is no turning back."

Lemina has not been named in Southampton's squad for their pre-season tour of Austria, along with the likes of Charlie Austin and Jordy Clasie.

The 25-year-old claims he had made plans that he would only spend two seasons there before moving on.

And he insists he does not need to join a Champions League club, with United and Arsenal missing out last season.

He added: "I am truly looking to find consistency again, to become an important player in a team again with big objectives.

"I quite simply told myself that I would do two years at Southampton, and then go to another level. I had an agreement with the sporting director.

"Since last year, I made it clear: I want to leave and go elsewhere this summer."
