Brisbane's backline stocks have taken a massive hit, with four more starters set to miss the round 10 away clash with Manly.

Coach Michael Maguire is facing a situation where 13 players in the top 30 are likely to be unavailable for selection on Tuesday when he names a side.

Winger Deine Mariner was taken to hospital in Sydney after the 38-24 loss to Sydney Roosters on Saturday night.

He had an operation on Sunday morning for what the Broncos said in a statement was "an acute compartment syndrome injury to the right thigh".

"The Broncos will provide a further update following consultation between club medical staff and his surgeon," the club said.

Winger Josiah Karapani left the field with an ankle injury and was unable to return.

The 2025 grand final star will have scans but is expected to miss game time, with fears he has suffered a syndesmosis injury.

Broncos captain Adam Reynolds suffered a category-one concussion in the second half and will miss the clash at Brookvale Oval on Saturday night.

The two-week suspension of centre Kotoni Staggs for an elbow to the head of Hugo Savala was a further blow the Broncos were confronted with on Sunday.

Brisbane went to the NRL for special dispensation to play train-and-trial forward Preston Riki from outside their contracted player list for the round-seven clash with Wests Tigers and may have to do so again.

Versatile Jesse Arthars is set to come in and take one of the wing positions. Hayze Perham, who shone on club debut at fullback against Canterbury a fortnight ago, has played wing and centre at NRL level in the past and is another option.

Accomplished young gun Thomas Duffy replaced Reynolds against the Roosters and did a wonderful job at No.7. He also kicks goals with precision and will fill that Reynolds role.

Brisbane's outside back stocks were already thin, with Grant Anderson (knee) and Delouise Hoeter (leg) both unavailable until at least round 15.
