Marine send three word message as Jose Mourinho and Tottenham to face non-league side in FA Cup

Northern Premier League Division One North West outfit Marine have sent a message after drawing Tottenham in the FA Cup third round.

The eighth tier side were pulled out of the hat alongside Jose Mourinho's Spurs in the third round draw on Monday evening, a dream tie for the non-league minnows.

Marine have already won six games to reach this stage of the competition, starting in the first of four qualifying rounds.

The non-league minnows have beaten Frickley, Runcorn Linnets, Nantwich Town, Chester FC, Colchester United and Havant and Waterlooville.

Marine are only the second team from the eighth tier to reach this stage of the competition and they will next attempt to defy the odds in the cup will be against Mourinho's Spurs.

The tie will be played across the weekend of January 9/10 and it will be played at Rossett Park, Crosby, the home to Marine, whose ground only holds a little over 3,000 spectators.

Marine are currently ninth in their league, though with a couple of games in-hand over most teams, while seven tiers above, Tottenham are top of the Premier League after drawing with Chelsea on the weekend.

That really puts into perspective the magic nature of the draw which has pitted these two teams together for the third round.

And both teams have already reacted to the draw on social media with Marine playing on the similarity between their name and Mourinho's, while Spurs have pointed to the 'magic of the cup.

Tottenham made it to the fifth round of the FA Cup last season, eventually losing to Norwich City - who were relegated from the Premier League last season - on penalties.

This season, however, Spurs appear to be a far more impressive outfit, currently sitting top of the Premier League after 10 games and they may just harbour hopes of a first FA Cup title since 1991.
