Marine manufacturer continues growth with factory expansion

An award-winning manufacturer is expanding its Plymouth factory and has bought another in Gloucester.

Manuplas, a division of Advanced Insulation Systems Ltd, has signed a two-year lease for additional storage space close to its existing production facility in Estover, Plymouth.

This expansion closely follows the appointment of Chris Napier as managing director for the division in February 2020 and is the first significant change to be made since his appointment.

The new units will provide 5,340sq ft of additional warehouse space, thus increasing the factory space by 12.5%.

The additional facility will allow Manuplas to increase its storage and production capability enabling it to significantly increase the volume and range of products available for immediate delivery to customers. It will also enable the current storage area to return to its use as a carpark.

The investment in the Plymouth site, coincides with the acquisition of a new factory in Gloucester that will focus on the production of subsea products.

This will enable the Plymouth team to focus on growing and expanding its marine capability. The division producers marine buoyancy products, quayside fenders and protection and insulation for ships.

Mr Napier said: “This is a hugely exciting time for our marine division, this expansion will enable us to develop our existing site and also focus on developing our range of products to meet the needs of our customers quickly and efficiently”.

Advanced Insulation is an award winning Gloucester-headquartered global supplier of insulation, passive fire protection (PFP), buoyancy and cable protection systems.

The company have working in the oil, gas, subsea and marine sectors since 2007 and is a leading manufacturer of technical coatings, including specialised fire protection and thermal insulation materials, and experts in the manufacture and application of resin-based foam insulation and fire protection systems.
