Anel Ahmedhodzic's proposed move to Chelsea is being blocked, according to the Malmo defender's father.
The Blues were extremely busy in the most recent summer transfer window, bolstering Frank Lampard's first-team squad with as many as seven new faces in a spending spree that exceeded the £200m mark.
Of those arrivals, two were in central defence with one eye on the present and the future.
Thiago Silva was snapped up on a free transfer after his contract at Paris Saint-Germain expired at the end of last season and the 36-year-old has already made a difference to the Chelsea backline.
In addition, Malang Sarr didn't cost a single penny as he too was a free agent after leaving fellow Ligue 1 outfit Nice.
But while Thiago Silva was signed to help the Blues immediately, the Frenchman has been loaned out to Porto in order to aid his development and could be in Lampard's plans next season.
And the aforementioned defensive duo could have further competition on their hands at the start of the 2021/22 campaign in the shape of Ahmedhodzic.
The 21-year-old - once on the books at Championship side Nottingham Forest - has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge and Swedish publication Expressen have reported the Blues are set to offer Malmo €8m (£7.2m) to get a deal done.
However, there is one sticking point.
Ahmedhodzic's father has confirmed that his son wants to leave the Swedish side at the end of the season, but has also accused Markus Rosenberg - his son's representative - of blocking a move to Chelsea.
"He’s [Rosenberg] not doing his job. He has told Marina [Granovskaia] at Chelsea that Anel is not going there,” Mirsad Ahmedhodzic told Sportbladet, as per TeamTalk.
"He [Anel] wants to go abroad after the season finishes."
Furthermore, Mirsad Ahmedhodzic has urged Rosenborg to work with Italian agent Fredrico Pastorello in order to do what is best for his son.
"Markus hasn’t arranged this, he doesn’t have the contacts," he added. "I have tried to inform Markus that Pastorello wants to cooperate with him."
If this situation isn't resolved, and barring a u-turn from Rosenborg then it would appear that Chelsea will miss out on signing Ahmedhodzic who could be the long-term replacement for Thiago Silva.
