Marina Granovskaia set new Chelsea transfer mission after Barcelona prepare to seal deal

Chelsea are set to miss out on Manchester City star Sergio Aguero this summer.

The Blues were heavily linked with a move for the Argentine, who will walk away from Manchester City after a decade this summer when his contract expires.

Chelsea are likely to spend big on a striker this summer, but they may also be in need of another deputy given Olivier Giroud is likely to leave, while Tammy Abraham 's future is far from certain.

Aguero, even with his injury issues this season, would have been a very good option given his available for a free this summer, but it seems his heart has led him elsewhere.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Aguero has already preparing to accept a contract offer from Barcelona ahead of next season.

And Romano also claims Aguero was so set on joining Barcelona that he took a huge pay cut, reducing his salary to around £8.6million per year.

It's claimed three clubs approached the City striker in a bid to lure him to their respective clubs but Aguero's 'priority' was to 'join Barca'.

The negotiations over his contract are said to be ongoing, but it seems there will be a deal in place sooner rather than later, and it's expected to run until 2023.

Barcelona have been made to rue the decision of allowing veteran Luis Suarez to leave ahead of this season, the former Liverpool star going on to fire Atletico Madrid within a win of the title heading into the final day.

Aguero could fill that void, and crucially for free, given Barcelona's financial troubles, but it does not help Chelsea, who may well find themselves looking for more than one frontman this summer.
