Whatever conversation you find yourselves having about Chelsea at the moment it isn't too long before Kai Havertz weaves his way into it.
The Germany international is becoming one of the most talked about figures as far as this summer's transfer window is concerned, with the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder continuing to be linked with a summer switch to Stamford Bridge.
football.london understands that Chelsea are confident of getting a deal over the line this summer, though the transfer fee itself remains a sticking point.
Havertz is open to sealing a move to the Premier League, but Leverkusen, as you can understand, are holding out for as much money as possible, though they have admitted that they will be willing to let him go if the price is right.
Over the last few months, a figure of somewhere between £70million - £90million has been seen as enough to get a deal wrapped up, with Chelsea certainly in the mood to splash the cash this summer after a very quiet 2019 summer transfer window.
However, a fee just short of £100million is still a lot of money for a club to pay in the aftermath of a global pandemic, but Marina Granovskaia, Chelsea's transfer guru, has come up with a plan to seal a deal for Havertz without putting too much pressure on the club's finances.
According to a report by calciomercato, an Italian media outlet, Chelsea are ready to reduce the £36million asking price for midfielder Jorginho.
The Italian, despite having racked up 44 appearances in all competitions during the 2019/20 campaign, is not thought to be in Frank Lampard's long-term plans, meaning the Blues are open to the idea of offloading him this summer.
Juventus, now managed by former Chelsea chief Maurizio Sarri, are believed to be leading the race for the former Napoli star, with Sarri, of course, a big fan of his qualities.
And it seems that Granovskaia is now ready to use Jorginho as an option to try and seal a deal for Havertz, who is patiently awaiting the green light to seal a move to Stamford Bridge.
Though Chelsea had already put a £36million asking price on Jorginho, which means they would have to suffer a £14million loss on the £50million they splashed out to sign him just two years ago, it seems that they are willing to take the hit, purely to raise funds to rush through a deal for Havertz.
With that in mind, it is claimed that the Blues will now accept a bid lower than the £36million they initially wanted, so long as the bid is respectable.
Juventus have been long-term admirers of Jorginho, meaning a reduced transfer-fee would certainly be music to their ears, which would no doubt prompt a fresh bid from the Serie A giants.
