Marina Granovskaia has been told why she must seal Gianluigi Donnarumma to Chelsea transfer

Gianluigi Donnarumma has been linked with a summer move to Chelsea.

Despite signing Edouard Mendy last summer, it would appear that the Blues are keen on bolstering the goalkeeping department even further ahead of next season.

According to reports, Chelsea are showing an interest in signing the Italy international.

Furthermore, the report states that the Blues have started talks with Donnarumma and are hoping to convince the 21-year-old to seal a move to west London in the summer transfer window.

Any such deal wouldn't cost Frank Lampard's side a single penny as Donnarumma is out-of-contract at AC Milan at the end of the current season, meaning he could leave on a free transfer.

With the winter window now open, the youngster is able to speak with teams outside of Italy in regards to signing a pre-contract.

And if Chelsea are successful in their efforts to sign the Italy international, they will be adding the best goalkeeper in the world to their ranks at Stamford Bridge.

That's according to Milan legend Paolo Maldini.

"It is certainly Milan's duty to try and keep hold of an important player like Gigio, for what he represents as a symbol, a player who came up through our youth academy and, in my humble opinion, because he is the best goalkeeper in the world," Maldini told DAZN last year.

Maldini's previous claim about Donnarumma is even more of a reason for Chelsea transfer chief Marina Granovskaia to push a deal through.

Whilst Mendy has impressed in between the sticks, having the "best goalkeeper in the world" would take the Blues to the next level.

With that said, Granovskaia has a big task on her hands to convince Donnarumma to leave Milan after outlining his intention to stay at the San Siro for a "long time".

"My agent will talk to the club, there's no problem," he told DAZN back in November.

"I want to stay at Milan for a long time, but we'll see what the club decides. I want to relish this moment as long as I can."
