Marina Granovskaia faces Angel Gomes transfer decision as Frank Lampard has Kante puzzle

Here is your Chelsea morning digest for Tuesday, June 30.

Analysing the FA Cup quarter-final win

The Blues of course reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup on Sunday, thanks to Ross Barkley’s second half strike earning them a 1-0 win at Leicester City.

They’re now set to face Manchester United in the semi-finals as Frank Lampard sits just two wins away from his first piece of silverware as Chelsea boss.

The win at the King Power Stadium saw Lampard ring the changes, with a few of the club’s youngsters, including Billy Gilmour, getting their latest run out.

It proved to be a tough experience for the Scot though as he struggled massively before being taken off at half-time.

Oliver Harbord takes a look at his performance, and other talking points from the game.

Kante back where he belongs, but dilemmas for Lampard

Jorginho’s absence through suspension upon the Premier League’s return meant we were able to see N’Golo Kante back in the holding position where he made his name.

Since that first game against Aston Villa though, Kante’s form has meant Jorginho has not been able to win his place back against either Manchester City or Leicester.

Kante will be due a rest soon, meaning Jorginho will likely get his chance, but it will be hard to move the Frenchman back onto the right of a midfield three when he would make his return.

Lampard values Jorginho highly though, in particular his leadership qualities, meaning Kante’s form does pose a few dilemmas at the moment.

Chelsea offer deal to Angel Gomes

Chelsea are reportedly willing to agree a lucrative deal with Angel Gomes, with the 19-year-old set to leave Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed the Old Trafford club have failed to agree a new deal with Gomes, which frees him up to secure his future elsewhere.

According to the Independent, the midfielder turned down an offer of £25,000 with bonuses, as he had far better offers from elsewhere.

One of those is believed to be from Chelsea, with agent Pini Zahavi involved in the discussions, although Gomes has had interest from a host of top clubs, including Hamburg, Valencia and Benfica.
