Marina Granovskaia considering Chelsea goalkeeper overhaul as two new transfer targets eyed

Chelsea are reportedly eyeing two goalkeepers as they attempt yet another overhaul between the sticks this summer.

The Blues saw third-choice Willy Caballero leave Stamford Bridge at the back end of the 2020/21 season, whilst Kepa Arrizabalaga still has an uncertain future after failing to convince following his big-money move from Athletic Bilbao.

Should the Spaniard depart, that would leave just Edouard Mendy of the current senior options at the club and despite having impressed in his debut season as a Chelsea player, he will certainly need some support heading into next season.

As a result, the Blues have been linked with a number of goalkeepers both in the Premier League and abroad.

According to German outlet DeichStube, Marina Granovskaia has her eyes on Werder Bremen stopper Jiri Pavlenka.

A 14-time Czech international, the 29-year-old has enjoyed four consecutive campaigns in the Bundesliga following a move from Slavia Prague but suffered relegation at the end of last season. Burnley also reportedly have their eyes on Pavlenka.

Meanwhile, the Blues could also be set to bring in a third option between the sticks in the form of Welsh stopper Wayne Hennessey.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers man departed Crystal Palace at the end of last season and is available on a free transfer. Reports from The Express have indicated that the Blues are considering a contract offer due to his homegrown status.

Chelsea are certainly no strangers to bringing in veteran stoppers, having over the past few seasons signed the likes of Rob Green, Willy Caballero, Eduardo, Marco Amelia and Mark Schwarzer.

Hennessey was Palace’s no.1 between 2015 and 2018 but fell down the pecking order following the arrival of Vicente Guaita.
