Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has revealed her delight after the Blues announced the appointment of Thomas Tuchel, labelling him one of Europe's best coaches.
The 47-year-old, has signed an 18-month contract with the Blues with the "possibility" of an extension and will take charge of his first game on Wednesday when Wolverhampton Wanderers visit Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea turned to the German having made the decision to dismiss club legend Frank Lampard on Monday.
And his replacement has now been announced with Tuchel, who guided Paris Saint-Germain to the Champions League final last season, taking over.
Granovskaia explained why Chelsea supporters should be excited about Tuchel's arrival and also broke her silence regarding the club's decision to sack Lampard.
"It is never easy to change head coach in the middle of the season but we are very happy to secure one of Europe’s best coaches in Thomas Tuchel," she told the club's official website.
"There is still much to play for and much to achieve, this season and beyond. We welcome Thomas to the club."
Meanwhile, Tuchel has expressed his excitement at becoming the new Chelsea boss.
"I would like to thank Chelsea FC for their confidence in me and my staff," he said. "We all have the greatest respect for Frank Lampard’s work and the legacy he created at Chelsea. At the same time, I cannot wait to meet my new team and compete in the most exciting league in football.
"I am grateful to now be part of the Chelsea family - it feels amazing!"
