Marina coming to Navy Pier

Whether you own a 130-foot-long yacht or a dingy, you’ll soon be able to dock at one of the city’s best-known waterfront properties: Navy Pier.

When it opens in 2021, Navy Pier Marina is expected to be Lake Michigan’s first and only dedicated “transient” marina, offering hourly, daily and weekly mooring, pier officials said Monday.

“Navy Pier will be a full-service marina offering white-glove concierge service, 24-hour secure access and expert staffing just steps away from world-class dining, shopping and entertainment,” according to a statement.

The marina is also expected to offer:

  • Laundry facilities, washrooms and showers.
  • WiFi, grills, bike racks and a bike repair station.
  • In-slip pump out, electricity and water service.

Prices for various reservations are expected to be released in the coming months, pier officials said. The marina won’t offer fuel though, officials said.

The City Council approved the marina project in 2016. Construction is expected to begin by the fall of this year.
