Marie Curie tea party is blooming great day out

Marie Curie held its first Blooming Great Tea Party at its West Lothian Palliative Care Service, based at St John’s, this week.

Plenty of tea and cake was enjoyed at the fundraising event which was open to all and took place in the courtyard garden. Angela Constance MSP attended and spoke about the importance of digging deep for the charity, which cares for people living with terminal illness and their families.

Special guests were Deans Meadow Allotment Group members Maureen, Robert, Bob and Kate who have transformed the courtyard garden with new plants and made sure the paths are wheelchair accessible.

In 2018/19 Marie Curie supported 538 people in the community through its West Lothian Palliative Care service, providing 1,518 visits to homes. 296 people also attended day therapies at the centre in Livingston. The service is a tri-partnership between Marie Curie, Macmillan Cancer Support and NHS Lothian.
