Marianne Faithfull survives coronavirus, leaves hospital safely

Singer-songwriter Marianne Faithfull spent three weeks in a London hospital after she tested positive for coronavirus. But on Wednesday, she was able to leave.

In a statement posted on her Twitter, a representative said that the 73-year-old artist would be recuperating in the city, and passed along a message of gratitude.

"Marianne thanks you all for your kind messages of concern which have meant a great deal through what is a such a difficult time for so many," the statement said. "She is also very grateful to all the NHS staff who cared for her at the hospital and, without doubt, saved her life."

Faithfull rose to fame in the '60s as part of the British Invasion. She's best known for dating Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger at the time, and for singing "As Tears Go By," co-written by Jagger.
