Marianne Faithfull has shared an update following her recovery from Covid-19, thanking the medical personnel who “basically saved [her] life”.

The singer tweeted on Wednesday for the first time since being released from the hospital last month.

She shared a photo of herself sitting up and leaning on a walking stick, which she has used in the past.

“I would like to say to all the people who cared for me and thought of me, who sent me love, people I know, people I have never met, thank you for helping me to get better,” she wrote.

“I want to thank the doctors and nurses who were so good and basically saved my life!

“Thank you all again for all your care, love, thoughts, prayers and wishes.”

She concluded: “All my love, Marianne.”

A previous update posted from Faithfull’s Twitter account announced in April that she had been discharged from the hospital 22 days after being taken in with Covid-19 symptoms.

“Marianne thanks you all for your kind messages of concern which have meant a great deal through what is a such a difficult time for so many,” that update reads in part.

“She is also very grateful to all the NHS staff who cared for her at the hospital and, without doubt, saved her life.”
