Marianne Faithfull said she is suffering with long Covid and is struggling financially.
The much-loved performer has revealed that things are “really quite desperate” in her life right now.
The ‘As Tears Go By’ singer says most of her plans have been wiped out by the lockdown, including a major movie project, and she is close to going broke.
Director Ian Bonhôte had planned to make a biopic focusing on Marianne’s wild life which saw her end up homeless whilst trying to make it in London in the 1960s, date The Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger, become a star, and landing a role in The Girl on a Motorcycle.
She was to be played by Bohemian Rhapsody actress Lucy Boynton.
Marianne said that she was relying on the cheque from that movie to keep her going, but things worked out much differently.
She told the Broken Record podcast: “I really need the money.
"The pandemic f***ed me up.”
Marianne, who is releasing a poetry and music album on April 30, still has Covid symptoms after spending 22 days in hospital last year.
She said: “I got so ill, I nearly died.
"I’ve got what they call long-term Covid.”
"I was in hospital and all I remember about it is that I was in a very, very dark place and I presume that was being very close to death.
“I’ve been working on my singing, practicing singing with a friend of mine who plays guitar, because I am really frightened that I wouldn’t be able to sing anymore."
