Marian Shved Celtic transfer exit claim as Mechelen make 'wait and see' admission

Mechelen boss Wouter Vrancken has revealed their hopes of extending Celtic flop Marian Shved 's loan spell in Belgium has stalled because the Hoops have made sweeping changes to their management and boardroom.

Shved admitted last week he was ready to return to Celtic if no new agreement could be reached between the clubs with the Ukrainian international still having two years left of his deal.

He was praised after an initial poor start at Mechelen and they are desperate to agree a new loan, with Celtic's asking price of around £2.5 million being too costly for them.

But the departure of manager Neil Lennon and imminent retirement of chief executive Peter Lawwell after 17 trophy-laden seasons have changed everything, according to Vrancken.

He said: "We had previously started talks with Celtic about the possibility of extending Marian's loan here.

"But there is a lot of change going on just now at Celtic.

"There will be a new manager and a new technical director. The people we previously talked to are now gone, so we will have to wait and see.

"Marian has clearly indicated that he would like to stay here. I also think that's best for him. He needs stability in his career."
