Trang: The authorities are building a near-shore nursing area for Mariam, the baby dugong that lost its mother in the Andaman Sea, according to the wildlife preservation unit at Moo Koh Libong.
A team of veterinarians from Chulalongkorn University is surveying the spot where the temporary nursing area is to be designated in tambon Koh Libong of Kantang district.
Mariam was found last week without its mother and looked thin. It has been fed with milk and nutrition and will be released back in the sea after it is fully nursed back to health.
Teen cadet's funeral delayed
Nakhon Sawan: The family of a 15-year-old boy, who died after being injured at a military cadet tutorial school last week, has postponed the funeral rites pending a full post-mortem examination in Bangkok, according to local police.
The tutorial school said Thapakorn Sapsin's death was due to "rugby-style playing" among friends.
An initial autopsy reportedly found Thapakorn suffered multiple injuries suggesting he had been hit with a hard object across his back and his legs.
Drivers nabbed after fatal brawl
crime: Two motorcycle-taxi drivers were arrested yesterday for participating in a brawl which led to the death of two people in Bangkok's Udomsuk area on Saturday.
Deputy police spokesman Kissana Phathanacharoen said Piya Puangkasorn and Rangsan Sornchaiyakorn were arrested by Bang Na police, after Phra Khanong Provincial Court issued arrest warrants for three suspects involved in the brawl. One suspect, Wanchai Mongkolkhem, is still on the run.
