Mariah Carey shuts down 10 Year Challenge by refusing to acknowledge time

Mariah Carey just ended the 10 Year Challenge.

The US pop superstar dropped the mic on the social media craze after refusing to acknowledge time.

“I don’t get this 10 year challenge, time is not something I acknowledge,” she tweeted alongside two identical pictures of herself. “*Picture taken at some point prior to today.”

She was hailed the “Queen of being ageless” and a “timeless beauty,” while others referenced an iconic interview from 2014 in which she told a reporter: “Darling, I’m eternally 12 years old.”

One fan tweeted: “Mariah Carey: Winning the internet one meme at a time #Eternally12.”

Another joked: “You aged backwards so it would be pointless.”

A third asked: “Aging? What is that?”

Carey is the latest celeb to take part in the trend which sees people post two images of themselves 10 years apart alongside the hashtag #10YearChallenge.

Chrissy Teigen, Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Biel and Miley Cyrus all posted throwbacks, with Cyrus sharing an image of herself and new husband Liam Hemsworth fooling around in 2009 – the year they met on the set of The Last Song.

Others poked fun at the challenge including Amy Schumer who posted a picture of Charlize Theron in Monster alongside another of herself wearing spanx and showing off her baby bump.

Sixteen year old Romeo Beckham posted a string of laughing emojis as he shared the ultimate throwback of himself as a six-year-old child on mum Victoria Beckham’s lap.
