A huge pop star is helping her teenage daughter to start a career in the music business.
Mariah Carey has said to be supporting her 14-year-old daughter Monroe’s dream to make it in the music world, wanting to follow in the footsteps of her global superstar mum.
The Sun has reported that the singer, 56, has filed papers to protect the name Monroe Carey, to stop anyone using it as her daughter begins her career.
The protection order will cover the name being used only by her and her daughter for live musical performances and 'other entertainment information'.
A source told the tabloid: “Mariah has a wealth of experience in the industry and was cautious when Monroe suggested she would like to be a musician.
“But she knows it's what she wants to do and she's fully supporting her and doing everything she can to help.
“Monroe doesn't want to just use her mum's little black book to make it as a singer, but her guidance has been invaluable. She's got a brilliant voice and if things go to plan it won't be too long before the world hears it.”
Mariah also spoke out on the rumours on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon recently and admitted her daughter loves to sing just like her.
She said: “My daughter's into music, and she likes music.
“She used to sing with me on my Christmas tour, but I don't know if she's doing it this year.”
Hos Jimmy then asked if we could soon see a solo career begins for the teen, to which she replied: “I'm trying to get her to do her own thing. I think she wants to. So possibly.”
Monroe, whose father is Nick Cannon, has been seen on our screens before.
In 2023, the youngster and mum Mariah teamed up with another famous mother and daughter duo for a TikTok.
