Mariah Carey gets fans into Christmas spirit by smashing Halloween pumpkins

Mariah Carey has teased fans that it's almost time for Christmas, now that Halloween is out of the way!

The chart-topper shared a video on Instagram earlier this morning, in which she can be seen getting into the festive spirit now that we're getting close to the holiday season.

The clip, shared with her 10.2 million followers, shows a Halloween display of pumpkins with "it's not time" carved into them, suggesting that it's still too early to think about Christmas.

Mariah, dressed in a sparkling red dress, walks over to the pumpkins and smashes them with a festive baseball bat as the intro to her hit All I Want for Christmas Is You begins.

"It's time," she states in a voiceover, as she's shown in another scene wearing her classic Santa Claus-inspired jumpsuit. In the background, stockings are on a fireplace near two white Christmas trees adorned with decorations.

The 52-year-old can then be seen throwing snow in the air whilst surrounded by presents, as the iconic 1994 song - which was co-written by Mariah - continues to play.

The video concludes with a message to fans, which reads: "It's time to smash that pumpkin and treat it as pie ... cause we still gotta get through thanksgiving."

The clip appeared to get fans in the spirit of the holiday season, with one follower saying "it's officially Christmas."

Another fan said "thank god it's Mariah season," whilst a third wrote in the comments section of the recent post: "Mariah understood the assignment #ItsChristmasTime."

One follower said: "Yep! Christmas music starts tomorrow."

The post even attracted responses from celebrities, with Kris Jenner commenting: "Obsessed." Coronation Street star Sally Carman wrote "yes," alongside festive emojis.

Other fans responded to a date which appeared briefly on a present in the video. "What's happening on November 5?" asked one followers. There's speculation amongst fans that it could refer to the release date of a brand new single.

The festive video comes as other artists prepare to release new Christmas music, including Gary Barlow. His upcoming album, which is titled The Dream Of Christmas, is set to include collaborations with the likes of Aled Jones.

He's also dueted with Sheridan Smith on a track titled How Christmas Is Supposed To Be, which is expected to be a contender for Christmas Number 1 in the UK this year.

And as reported last month, Leona Lewis is said to have been inspired to write more Christmas music, following the success of One More Sleep - which was released in 2013.
