Mariah Carey announces new album The Rarities featuring unreleased music

Mariah Carey will release an album of unreleased songs later this year.

The Rarities, due to land on October 2, will be Carey's first new album since Caution in 2018, and will follow the release of a new memoir called The Meaning Of Mariah Carey, out on September 29.

Announcing the album on Twitter, Carey wrote: “This one is for you, my fans. It’s to celebrate us, and to thank you for years of pure love and support. I am so grateful to you.”

According to a tracklist for the album posted on Amazon Music, The Rarities will feature 32 new tracks, including 17 recordings from a live show at the Tokyo Dome. Another track is listed as “Save The Day (2020)”, hinting at the prospect of some newly created music too.

Fans reacted with joy on social media, thanking Carey for the release of the new project.

Carey, who signed her first major record deal in 1988, is one of the most successful vocalists in music history, selling more than 200 million records worldwide.
