Margus Hunt contract: Veteran DL signs two-year extension

The Indianapolis Colts are certainly in the middle of a youth movement, but defensive lineman Margus Hunt will return on a contract extension to provide veteran depth on a young defensive front.

Despite entering his age-32 season in 2019, the Colts signed Hunt to a two-year extension worth $9 million with incentives that could bump the total of the contract up to $10 million, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Hunt had a career season with the Colts in 2018 while working in the new one-gap front brought along by first-year defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus. The Estonian recorded 30 tackles (22 solo), 13 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks, all of which were career highs.

The Colts still have the most salary cap space in the NFL to go out and add more depth pieces to the defense and wide receiver position, but Hunt should continue to provide some veteran depth in an ascending pass rush.
