Marcus Thuram price tag revealed as Mikel Arteta considers Gabriel Jesus backup transfer plan

Borussia Monchengladbach have given Arsenal target Marcus Thuram a revised price tag following the World Cup, according to reports. The 25-year-old forward has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League recently, with his deal at the German outfit set to expire at the end of the season.

As it stands, the France international will be eligible to begin pre-contract talks with foreign clubs in January over a free transfer in the summer. In the meantime, Thuram will be available for a cut-price fee in January and the Gunners are said to be among a number of top European sides looking to wrap up a bargain.

According to Bild, Borussia Monchengladbach are prepared to sell the Frenchman for as little as £10million at the final chance of asking. The report states that Arsenal are joined by Newcastle United and West Ham in the race for Thuram after an impressive display in Qatar.

Thuram featured five times for Didier Deschamps' side at the World Cup and, despite starting a single game, he showcased why a host of Premier League clubs are keen to secure his signature. He proved to be a great threat off of the bench, proving two assists - one in the round of 16 and another in the final against Argentina.

Mikel Arteta is said to be in the market for a new striker in January following Gabriel Jesus' injury, with both Dusan Vlahovic and Joao Felix both heavily linked to the north London side. The Brazilian was forced to come off during his nation's 1-0 defeat to Cameroon in the final game of the World Cup group stages after feeling pain in his right knee.

football.london learned that Jesus was initially expected to be out for three to four weeks. But, after returning to England from Qatar for further scans, it turned out that he suffered a medial collateral ligament injury and could be on the sidelines for longer than first thought.

With that being said, the Arsenal talisman is expected to return within three months which comes as a consolation as Arsenal look to defend their place at the top of the Premier League. While Thuram may be available for just £10million after a very promising tournament in Qatar, it remains to be seen whether Edu will push to complete a deal.
