Marcus Stroman pitches NY Mets past Colorado Rockies, 6-1

DENVER _ The New York Mets kept their wild-card hopes alive Tuesday night with 6-1 victory over the Colorado Rockies.

Starter Marcus Stroman threw seven shutout innings, striking out seven runs while allowing only four hits and one walk.

Pete Alonso smacked his 48th home run of the season, one of three Mets homers in the game.

Amed Rosario and Brandon Nimmo also went yard for New York.

The Mets and Phillies are four games back of the Cubs and Brewers who are tied for the second wild-card spot in the National League.
