Marcus Smart sends Boston a special Valentine’s Day message

Suffice it to say, the Boston Celtics have had quite a few question marks surrounding their personnel in the 2018-19 season. Whether it’s players not “buying into their roles” or concerns about their future with the franchise, it’s been chaotic more often than not.

But one player who’s been a steady hand at the center of it all is Marcus Smart.

Now, he did reportedly get into a scuffle with Gordon Hayward at practice back in early December. But that did have a positive effect, helping Hayward churn out a 30-point performance, his best to that point in the season.

He’s gotten into it with opposing players, too, like Philadelphia’s Ben Simmons and Atlanta’s DeAndre’ Bembrey, the latter being quite the spectacle. You won’t find many Celtics fans who mind that behavior, so long as Smart doesn’t get hurt or suspended.

Although there’s still some hesitation when Smart shoots it—though not nearly as much as in years past given his improved play—it seems he’s fully found his groove with the team that drafted him sixth overall back in 2014.

Based on his Valentine’s Day tweet, it appears Smart feels the same way.
