Marcus Smart on Celtics: ‘We’re still fighters’

The Boston Celtics head into the NBA All-Star Break on a positive note, having won Wednesday’s game against the Pistons, 118-110, to follow up Tuesday’s 112-109 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. As much as the Pistons aren’t on par with the Sixers, a loss would’ve taken away the massive wave of momentum Boston was riding in response to the “we’re not having fun” commentary.

But while the Celtics have a young group, they’re not naive. Or, at least, their veterans know enough to admit this team will experience more bumps along the way.

Marcus Smart explained, according to Chris Grenham of CLNS Media:

We’re still fighters, man. That’s it. We’ve been hit with a lot of adversity and it’s going to continue to hit us, but we keep finding ways to overcome it. … With all the distraction and noise that’s going on, we got guys stepping up each and every night. Kudos to this coaching staff for sticking with us.

Huh. Another Celtics player talking like a leader without feeling the need to declare himself one. That’s odd.
